My dear Wendy Segall

My dear Wendy Segall,
I was just a little, lonely beach girl at Windansea and didn’t have my surfin’ up to snuff nor my skateboarding legs, nor friends.  Truth be known, I just wasn’t part of the LJ crowd.  I was an outsider!

There’s something special about those Segall women...Morgan, you reached out to Leslie and took under her wing  with your warm friendship almost as soon as Leslie entered the grounds of La Jolla HS, senior year.

Wendy, it’s no surprise that Morgan did that for Leslie. The day I was introduced to you, I knew that you had a special kind of somethin’....you were smart and vivacious! You had an Entertainment Tonight host of Hollywood gossip to share, I learned that you were a big macher as Chairwoman of Las Patronas’ Jewel Ball,  you were a serious balabusta with endless creativity, home furnishings with a twist, a beautiful family inside and out, and I said to myself, “I like her. She’s my kind of gal!”

Wendy, nothing holds you down.  I can remember when we got together for dinner one evening after not seeing you for a few months and I could NOT believe my eyes.  You were transformed with your daily exercise regime. Sista,  when you make a decision to do something , watch out!  You made me your walking partner and I was like a dog on the leach with you pulling me up Nautilus.  I was beggin’ for mercy!
You take pride in everything....your birthday party/baby shower games for guests (are you serious that you can make time for creating that, too?!), special trips for your family including hand made photo albums (are you super woman??), snacks for our walks (small but still significant) and opening your home up to LP for Grants (how many years in a row?) Then there was the night we went to your Club 6 Oh! Jewel Ball.  OMG, that was the party of all parties!   My new friend was brilliant!

I love it when we’re together.  Our little mouths go and go and I have laughed wildly with you!  I am so proud to call you my dear friend.   Wendy, you are a gift to this world. You selflessly give love and truly are a a woman of integrity.  You make this world a better place.

Happy Birthday, dear Wendy, and thanks for taking me under your wing when I was feeling lonely and new to La Jolla! I was a one year six pack with Las Patronas which was the best year of all living in La Jolla thanks to you, Wendy. I will always treasure our friendship.  Sanjeev sends his birthday wishes and thinks you’re pretty special, too!

With all my love,
Kathy
